The Burton Cartel X is not for everyone. The baseplate composition is lighter but also stiffer and not everyone is going to enjoy that. This does allow for a quicker and more efficient transfer of energy from edge to edge, but it also reduces board feel underfoot. For those who like to feel what’s going on under them we would recommend the standard Cartel, but if you want the best performance for more technical and aggressive terrain then the Cartel X may just be what you are looking for. The Hammockstrap 2.0 is ideal to keep your blood flowing if you don’t like cranking till your feet go numb, but the smooth glide buckles allow you to crank your straps down as tight as you want if you prize performance and hold over comfort. This is one of the reasons that Burton team riders love the Cartel the most. Burton EST® bindings mount only to boards featuring The Channel™ mounting system. The Cartel comes in a Re:Flex version for all other board mounting systems.

Stiff flexing bindings provide the most efficient transfer of energy for quicker and more precise edge-to-edge control. They are ideal for those who are always riding as hard as they can and/or are riding the most difficult terrain and need the most response.

EST® mounting system

EST® mounting system has no hardware underfoot, features a flexible foot bed for improved board feel, and provides the widest range of stance options; Mounts only to boards featuring The Channel™ board mounting system.

45% Short Glass | 55% Nylon Composite Baseplate

Nylon composite material blended with 45% short-glass provides more precise response. This is composition is lighter weight and stiffer than the standard Cartel baseplate for a more aggressive rider. Single-component baseplate construction features one material throughout, providing consistent response and feel while riding on any terrain.

EST® mounting system & SensoryBED™ cushioning system

Hammockstrap 2.0 Ankle Strap

A durable and low-profile design, locking you in and giving you instant control of your board. This provides ultra responsiveness between you and your board while reducing hotspots and increasing blood flow for the best heat retention. Simply put, warm and happy feet! The Cartel comes with a stiffer version of this strap for improved power and hold. 

Supergrip Capstrap Toe Strap

This toe strap wraps over the toebox of the boot and is fully injected to reduce waste. As the name implies, it grips!

The Hinge Hi-Back & DialFLAD™

Single-component canted hi-back construction provides immediate response and allows you to manipulate the overall flex profile of the board. Zero forward lean hi-back is completely vertical and designed for riders who prefer a more playful and relaxed feel. DialFLAD™ system features a rotating dial for making adjustments to the forward lean angle of the hi-back.

Heel Hammock

Features reinforced rubbery material that wraps the boot heel, providing complete suspension for lightning fast response.

Smooth Glide™ buckles
