Directional Shape w/ 5mm Taper
Directional shape is the classic snowboard shape, designed to be ridden with a slightly longer nose than tail to concentrate pop in the tail while providing plenty of float, flow, and control to rip any terrain or condition. The 5mm taper makes for easy turning, providing the feel and focus of a directional board without anything holding you back from riding it like a twin.
Directional Camber
A Camber Bend advocates powerful turns and poppy precision, offering snappy suspension with weight distributed evenly across the entire board for smooth, continuous edge control from tip to tail. Entry rocker causes the nose to lift while camber under both feet maintains momentum and stability through deep-driving turns, variable conditions, especially powder.
Skill Level
We place the skill level just about center for the Cartographer. The board is a smooth ride, but is more catered to the folks who have some riding under them and know that they want to start heading off piste. With that said, if you are an advanced rider wanting a relaxed all-mountain ride, this is a great option. If you are unsure if this is the right board for you feel free to reach out to us.
Flex Rating
Burton rates this board on the stiffer side of medium. We would agree with this rating as well. Though flex can vary based on the riders weight and ability level, the Cartographer is soft enough to have a smooth forgiving ride but stiff enough to do well in varying terrain and at speed.
Sintered Base
Durable and highly porous for superior wax absorption that reduces friction to keep you sliding better and longer. Wax regularly and repair professionally.
Super Fly® 800g Core
An FSC™ Certified dual-species wood core that is loaded with pop and alternates between hard and soft woods to reduce overall weight without limiting performance.
Dualzone EGD™
Engineered wood grain is positioned along the toe and heel edges on two continuous zones perpendicular to the core for more edge-hold, response, and strength.
Squeezebox Low
A core profiling that progressively mills out the core between the bindings, allowing for increased flex where you want it and stability where you need it.
Pro-Tip
A tapered tip and tail thickness reduces swing weight for easier mobility.
Biax™ Fiberglass
The glass strands are weaved together in two directions at 90 degrees to each other. In a snowboard, biaxial fiberglass delivers soft and consistent torsional and longitudinal flex that is smooth and buttery.
Super Sap® Epoxy
Epoxies and resins are often petroleum-based, which is why Burton partnered with Entropy Resins on Super Sap®, a resin formulated with bio-based materials that reduce its carbon footprint by 50% over conventional all-petroleum based epoxies.
Infinite Ride
A special machine that allows Burton to overbuild their boards and then break them in so that they ride the same on the 100th day as they did on the first day out of the wrapper.
