Burton Family Tree Hometown Hero Snowboard - Men's by Burton
Product Info
The Burton Hometown Hero was an instant classic upon its initial release. As part of the Family Tree series, the Hometown Hero is another link in Burton’s search to building the perfect board. The Hometown Here is remarkably similar to the Burton Custom in its construction and details, but the big picture is where they stand apart. The Hometown Hero is set further back towards the tail with increased taper making it ideal for directional style carving and getting off the groomers on pow days. If deep days are your holy grail in snowboarding, the Hometown Hero won’t disappoint. And because it also has a twin flex for mixing it up on and off the groomers, the Burton Hometown Hero is an ideal single board quiver. If you are looking for more diversity in your quiver, we believe that the Hometown Hero and Custom make one of, if not, the best two board quiver out there. Just saying.
The Channel® mounting system gives you the easiest, most adjustable setup with bindings from all major brands (not just Burton's).

Directional w/ 12mm Taper
Directional is the classic snowboard shape, designed to be ridden with a slightly longer nose than tail to concentrate pop in the tail while providing plenty of float in powder and a smoother roll into your carve. 12mm taper makes for easy turning, providing the feel and focus of a directional board without anything holding you back from riding it like a twin.
Directional Camber
A Camber Bend advocates powerful turns and poppy precision, offering snappy suspension with weight distributed evenly across the entire board for smooth, continuous edge control from tip to tail. Entry rocker causes the nose to lift while camber under both feet maintains momentum and stability through deep-driving turns and variable conditions. The perfect mix for ripping turns in the pow and digging trenches on the groomers.
Skill Level
Because of its shape and flex, we would put the Hometown Hero closer to the advanced side of the scale. That does not mean that an intermediate rider should shy away. This rating means that if you are coming from a twin board with some rocker, the board may take a bit of getting used to. Advanced riders will love this board for its power and versatility.
Flex Rating
The Hometown Hero is on the stiffer side of medium for its flex. Not too soft, not too stiff. Like the perfect porridge.
Sintered WFO Base
WFO Base infuses specially formulated wax deep into the pores of the extra-absorbent, high-density sintered material, making it ultra-fast and ultra-durable for riding all season in any condition.
SuperFly II™ 700G Core
A FSC™ Certified wood core that is loaded with pop and alternates between hard and soft woods to reduce overall weight without limiting performance. Stronger and lighter woods target specific areas of the core to provide pop, strength, and reduced weight.
Dualzone EGD™
Engineered wood grain is positioned along the toe and heel edges on two continuous zones perpendicular to the core for more edge-hold, response, and strength.
Squeezebox
A core profiling that progressively mills out the core between the bindings, allowing for increased flex where you want it and stability where you need it.
Frostbite Edges
Frostbite extends your edges out slightly beneath your bindings for extra edge hold on hard and icy conditions. Less grabby than other traction features from other brands, Frostbite works when you need it and doesn't trip you up when you don't. Off-Axis tweaks this technologies to match the angles of your typical park stance.
Balanced Freeride Geometry
Setback camber and a sidecut that is centered on your stance to create a twin freestyle feel when riding flat base. On edge it turns tight and quick with the float and prowess expected from a directional deck.
Pro-Tip
A tapered tip and tail thickness reduces swing weight for easier mobility.
Triax™ Fiberglass w/ 45° Carbon Highlights
The glass strands are woven together in three directions at 45°, 45°, and 0°. This allows for a softer flexing board for presses while maintaining strength, pop, and response needed for everything from mini to mega shred. Carbon Highlights optimize each layer of the fiberglass matrix and adds a full tip-to-tail carbon layer to reduce weight and fine tune torsional feel to achieve different ride characteristics.
Super Sap® Epoxy
Epoxies and resins are often petroleum-based, which is why Burton partnered with Entropy Resins on Super Sap®, a resin formulated with bio-based materials that reduce its carbon footprint by 50% over conventional all-petroleum based epoxies.
Infinite Ride
A special machine that allows Burton to overbuild their boards and then break them in so that they ride the same on the 100th day as they did on the first day out of the wrapper.
