This refers to the amount of light that reaches your eye through the lens of the sunglasses. Standard sunglasses range from 15-25% VLT. 

Airblaster’s Polorized Glacier Glasses are rated at a Category 3 VLT, meaning they are a dark tint with only 8-18% VLT coming through.
