The Burton Photon is the best of the best. The go to boot for performance, fit, and comfort. Imprint 3 liner, EST® midsole, Vibram® traction and outsole, and dual zone Focus Boa® lacing system all make this boot stand apart from the rest. Not partial to Boa®? Burton has you covered with the Photon Speed Zone™. But enough hype, here's why you may want to pay attention to the Photon. First is the lacing system. Focus Boa® is a dual zone lacing system, one to secure the upper cuff around your calf and one to secure your forefoot over your instep. This gives you superior hold by allowing for you to adjust tension where you want and need it, as where the single zone approach gives you one tension throughout the boot. This ends up causing people to over tighten one area or leaving one loose. Second key aspect to the Photon is the Imprint 3 liner which has, you guessed it, 3 layers of foam in key areas. This allows for Burton to build the Imprint 3 with greater detail in the shape and contour of the liner. It also provides improved heat molding capabilities for superior custom fit. We do recommend that you have this done by a boot fitter if needed, but we do find that this liner will mold exceptionally well on its own as you break it in naturally. The Imprint 3 liner has the narrowest heel pocket for those who can never seem to eliminate heel lift. We could go on about the Photon, many of the Berg's crew ride this boot, but we think this should be enough to convince you to take a good look at this boot. If not, let us know. We are here to help. BURTON WARRANTY: 1-Year Warranty FITTING YOUR BOOTS – To properly assess the fit of any boot you must lace or buckle it completely. The boot will feel small until you do this because your toes will be pushed to the front until laced or buckled. Also, keep in mind all boot liners stretch out and get bigger. – First, lace or buckle the boot loosely. Next, flex into the boot to drive your heel into the heel pocket. Doing this makes room for your toes. Lastly, finish lacing or buckling the boot in a flexed position. – Be sure to wear the boots for at least 10 minutes fully laced or buckled before making a determination. Remember these boots are not made for walking, keep your knees slightly bent and flexed forward into riding position. When doing this your heels should be pushed into the back of the boot and your toes should be comfortable. – You should wear the thinnest sock you are comfortable with. Blood flow is the number one thing that keeps your feet warm. Adding more material around your feet with thicker socks increases the chances of reducing blood flow. – To help your foot sit properly in your boot, you may consider an aftermarket footbed like Superfeet® or Sidas®. A footbed with arch support, not just cushion, helps align your foot in the shell and alleviates pressure points. Footbeds should be sized to your arch height and length, not your shoe size. – Spend some time choosing your boots, they are the most important piece of your gear!
