A surf inspired shape for all-mountain carving and pow slashing, that is the Jones Mind Expander in a nutshell. There are a lot of reviews and information out there about this board, so we’ll keep it simple. Carving on a snowboard and surfing have a lot in common so combing both makes a lot of sense. If you have ever seen a surf video then you know how nimble and agile their quick turns look. That is exactly how slashing a turn on the Mind Expander feels. It is hard to explain just how fun it is ride like this on natural features all over the mountain, other than pure joy. So whether you like carving groomers all day or are looking for a powder board to add to your quiver, and all that sounds like pure joy to you then you might just be looking at the right board. Technical Features

Christenson Surf Camber / Rocker

Custom rocker/camber flex pattern designed by surf shaper Chris Christenson. The rockered tip floats the board’s nose and improves maneuverability while the camber underfoot provides edge hold and response. A slightly rockered tail maintains the power and stability of a traditional board and helps keep the tail catch-free initiating turns and landing switch

Tapered Directional

Directional shape is the classic snowboard shape, designed to be ridden with a slightly longer nose than tail to concentrate pop in the tail while providing plenty of float in powder. A softer nose allows for a smoother roll into your carve, while a stiffer waist and tail provides better control through the turn and a stronger finish. 

Having a narrower tail than nose allows for the rear of the board to drop in powder which lifts the nose of the board above the fluff, reducing back leg fatigue on the best days of the season. This also allows for a tighter turn radius on a wider board, especially in narrow chutes and tight trees.

V-Core

Re-designed triple density Bamboo Surf wood core that features primarily paulownia stringers with bamboo stringers positioned in the pocket of the sidecut for better edge response and turn power.

Basalt Stringers

Sustainable stringer made with 100% natural fibers. Basalt stringers improve torsional response and transfer power from under your feet to the tips of the board to eliminate nose and tail chatter.

Sintered 8000 Base

Premium base material made from Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW-PE) and carbon. Base is highly wax absorbent, easy to repair and wicked fast.

3D Base Contour

This base shaping technology reduces drag, increases glide, flow, and float. This means higher speeds, improved fluidity during carves, and effortless float through powder, crud, or crusty snow. The 1.0 version offering 7mm of spoon bevel in the nose and tail. Spoon bevel starts at the rocker point.

Traction Tech 3.0 Edges

Traction Tech 3.0 Edges - Traction Tech 3.0 features three bumps per edge (front binding, board center, back binding). The middle bump is slightly bigger than the outside bumps for better grip.

Progressive Sidecut

The sidecut radius is incrementally increased from the center as the edge reaches the contact point. Gradually increasing the sidecut radius towards the contact point delivers smoother turn initiation and exit as the edge tracks in and out of the snow with a less abrupt transition.
