Our female athletes wanted a more aggressive ski, and we answered the call with the Bertha, a big powder, big mountain ski for women chasing after the stronger pull of gravity. The Bertha is a hard-charging twintip that combines a super-fat platform chosen by Karhu athletes with Karhu’s proven women’s construction. The new Greenlight™ Core gives it a lighter, quicker swingweight, while Die-Cut Titanal® supplies the power and stability. Sized for aggressive women, the Bertha will push boundaries on the snow.

Women's Construction: Designed right, from the start. When we developed the Karhu Women's Series skis with leaders in skiing like Alison Gannett, we committed to building skis that would be lighter and more responsive, without losing their edgehold. A women's ski doesn't have to mean a men's without the metal, and this years Women's Series combines our Greenlight Core for a lighter swing weight with the tried-and-true performance of Die-Cut Titanal. Karhu is all about Inspired Design... Long a leader in the world of skiing, Karhu athlete Alison Gannett brought significant ski mountaineering expertise in Europe and Asia and interest in women`s gear design to the original development of the popular Jil and Betty skis. A former World Extreme Freeskiing Champion, Alison again led the charge for the new, more aggressive Bertha for women`s big-mountain skiing. Committed to advancing women in the sport, Alison spends her winters leading women`s ski clinics and expeditions around the globe. A lifelong environmentalist and Al Gore Climate Crisis Trainee, Alison`s efforts to raise awareness of climate issues – through her non-profit Office for Resource Efficiency, the traveling Global Cooling Tour and recently the Chasing Glaciers project – continue to push our interest in working with sustainable materials and reducing our own impact. We`re proud to support Alison`s efforts, and for more on her trips, camps and winter preservation Karhu Tech: Progressive Sidecut : Progressive sidecut gives our skis greater versatility across more conditions on the mountain, even as waist widths increase. The Progressive Sidecut uses multiple radii splined together (four radii on the Progressive All-Mountain) with a tighter radius sidecut at the tip and tail. The more aggressive sidecut at the tip and tail makes the ski quicker in turn initiation and more agile, and the long radius underfoot enhances powerful edgehold with cleaner turn release. Greenlight™ Core The Greenlight™ Core improves performance and helps reduce the impact of the ski on you, and on the environment. Wide blocks of Paulownia and stringers of maple or bamboo create a great strength-to-weight ratio, and the fast growth, reduced transportation and high-carbon sequestration value of the Greenlight™ Core reduces the footprint of each ski a little more.
