Atomic Tech Talk:
G2 GRIP&GLIDE
To obtain gliding properties as in skating and the kick-off properties of a perfectly waxed classic ski, our research and development teams created this unusual construction so that these characteristics could be combined. A higher number of gliding surfaces and extremely sharp edges allow the requirements of a functional climbing aid to be combined. Moreover, special base materials are used in order to prolong the functional properties. Contrasting colouring of the cutting edge to make this high-quality technology stand out visually. G2 Grip and Glide – the new dimension to crosscountry skiing.
“Grip” for an effortless dynamic kick and “Glide” for optimal gliding properties. These are the two factors which decisively influence crosscountry skiing. The newly developed G2 Grip&Glide technology from ATOMIC is the Nordic innovation of the winter!
What makes G2 Grip&Glide technology so special is the combination of gliding surfaces and grip zones within the climbing aid zone. The result is maximum grip in the kick-off movement combined with outstanding gliding properties.
In addition, the ski construction, the high-quality base material with an elongated gliding zone and the innovative shape of the abrasion-proof grip zones ensure light, effortless and
pleasantly noiseless gliding. Moreover, special base materials prolong the life of the functional properties. The contrasting colouring of the cutting edge make this high-quality
technology stand out visually. The new G2 Grip&Glide technology from ATOMIC is used in the Nordic segments Motion, Fitness and Balanze. With no waxing, you’ll have a great
time on the groomed tracks in all snow conditions, lightly, easily, safely and
with a huge fun factor. The G2 Grip&Glide technology from ATOMIC changes the face of crosscountry skiing.
Grip ...
Three-dimensional grip zones have been integrated into the kick zone of the base with cutting-edge milling machines. Like the jaw of a shark or the sipes of winter tyres, these edges bite into all types of snow for a safe but dynamic kick. The large volume which forms under the many small edges, ensures enormous stability and smoothness.
... And Glide
Small surfaces parallel to the ground behind the many grip zones extend the gliding zones of the ski. In the forward movement, the ski thus glides on a plane surface. The advantage compared to a conventional NoWax system is that it saves a tremendous amount of energy and significantly increases the speed of the ski.
